I watched the lunar eclipse for a bit. It was a nice night for it, if a bit cold. The eclipsing is still going about its business as I write this, but it is too chilly outside and I am too drained to watch the whole show. Even the few minutes I spent gazing skyward was enough to once again drive home the point that we really do live on a shiny, blue ball that hurtles through space as it orbits an unfathomably large ball of fire. It's all true. Then there's our stalker, the moon, always staring at us.
I can't help but imagine a giant feathered-space-serpent streaking through the night sky and swallowng the moon as it passes. Sure, we now know that a lunar eclipse is merely the shadow of the earth cast upon the moon, but that doesn't mean there aren't giant feathered-space-serpents in search of moons to devour.
They're out there — and they're hungry.
