We Can't All Be Monks
Today I read an interview with the famous Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh wherein it was mentioned he hadn't used a telephone in 25 years. Twenty-five years! As a long time netizen, the very idea of such technological disconnection struck me as astoundingly freeing. As an information technology worker, such abstinence would be unworkable. However, I would definitely do well to use the internet a bit less—if only for the sake of my eyes. While I'm working out exactly what that means, you should sign up to my mailing list or follow me on the Twitters if you want to keep up to date with this blog. I plan to otherwise lay low from the tubes for a day or two.
