A Chilly Night in June

I'm sitting in downtown Collingswood, NJ. I am equal parts enjoying and annoyed by the Second Saturday festivities. Second Saturday is nice enough. I’m just grumpy because I didn’t bring a sweatshirt. I was going to but then thought better of it. Or at least I thought I was thinking better at the time. It was decidedly an error on my part. It is an unseasonably cool and windy evening for mid-June. It’s on the very edge of cold even. A lack of preparation finds me cutting my night short and heading back home to my new apartment. I live by a lake now. It’s nice and very quiet. Well, it’s quiet except for the hawks, anyway. They were making quite a bit of fuss today.

But they are hawks.
