Who Needs Love When You Got a Gun?

Fine little girl, she wait for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
I sail the ship all alone
I never think I'll make it home

Who knew Louie Louie had actual lyrics? Well, other than Richard Berry, that is. Surely not me. I generally think of Louie Louie as a Black Flag tune,
(several Black Flag tunes, actually), but I suppose Black Flag probably thought of it as a Kingsmen song or maybe a hit by Otis Redding .

Much wit and wisdom is lost from one generation to the next. I reckon the only true constant between them is the drive to spawn ever more generations, even if only on accident. Each generation has their own take on Louie Louie. That's only natural.

At this point you may be wondering if I actually spent my Friday night drinking beer and researching the history and variations of the song Louie Louie. Yes! And I'd do it again right now, but I have to get up in the morning.

Richard BERRY "Louie Louie" (1957)
