A Moody Valentine's Evening
It's Valentine's Day. I am in a mood. My mood is not owing to any romantic laments, however. Suck an egg, Eros. I'm in a mood because I've been reading Syria Speaks: Art and Culture from the Frontline. The book is a collection of art, fiction, interviews, and essays from people involved in the early Syrian revolution. There is a specific focus on non-violent participants. It is a collective tale of oppression, heartache, rape as a weapon, political imprisonment, torture, murder, and state mandated fear going on two generations.
There are far worse things than not having a date on this particular day, and pretty much all of them are happening in Syria right now.
